(More customer reviews)Being a fan of Wheat Thins for a while I was pleased in seeing they are branching out to making a variety of flavors. I am a sucker for anything Italian so the prospect of a Wheat Thin flavored with permesan cheese and herbs like basil just sounded good. And they are good, but not what I expected.
The basil and parmesan is very, very strong on this cracker along with some saltiness that appears stronger than your normal Wheat Thin. In other words this is not a cracker you would add stuff to or dip in anything. It pretty much sinks or swims on its own. After the flavor shock of the first few crackers they really grew on me. In the end I must say I like them, but it's still not the best representation of the brand for me.
Wheat Thins were good to me because they were hearty in the whole grains things but the flavor was light. Made for a great foundation for cheese or just munching alone. The parmesan and basil cracker is not the same animal by any stretch, although it still has that whole grain heartiness.
In the end I give the cracker a thumbs up, with note. Only get it if you want a bold, salty italian flavor.
